# Vintages on screen

The vintage pill names the fixed version of the data you are reading, such as DTG 2026.3. Cite it with any figure you publish.

## The short answer

Every release of DTG data is a complete, fixed, named version, such as `DTG 2026.3`. The **Vintage** pill in the selection bar shows the current one by default, and your workspace follows each new release unless you pick a vintage yourself. A released vintage never changes, so a figure recorded with its vintage can be retrieved later exactly as it was, for as long as that vintage is kept. Prior vintages can be selected on every paid plan; on Free they are shown marked **Paid plans only**.

## Choosing a vintage

Open the Vintage pill. Each row shows the label and the date it was built, with “current” on the current one. Picking a prior vintage pins your workspace to it, and the menu says your workspace stays on that vintage until you switch; picking the current row again makes it follow new releases. When a new vintage is released, every seated member is notified, and a workspace pinned to an earlier one stays where it is. No release calendar is published.

## Why values move between vintages

Preliminary quarters become final, BLS revises earlier periods, classifications are restated, early-year occupation patterns are re-derived, and projected periods become published ones. The current vintage and the two before it are kept; older ones are removed as new ones are released. A workspace pinned to a removed vintage says it can no longer be found and offers **Use the current vintage**. The vintage label is written into the preamble of every CSV, onto the Source sheet of every workbook, and into the metadata of every API response.
